2017 COACH'S REPORT:
The 2017 Cross Country team had thirty athletes, fifteen guys and fifteen girls. It was a fun season led by four energetic and positive captains (Olivia H, Liza M, Luke K & Jackson P). As a first-year cross country coach, I was constantly surprised with how positive and motivated these kids were on a daily basis. Running in 100°+ for over three miles takes a lot of positive motivation, especially to do it over and over again throughout the season.
The guys showed a lot of improvement over the season. We hope to see that built upon in next year’s season as most of our top runners are returning as juniors and seniors. The guys came up just short of qualifying for State, but I’m sure that will be a goal for next season.
The girls had an excellent season! For only the second time in school history, they qualified for State. Senior runner and captain, Olivia H, also qualified individually. The girls are losing a few strong runners but we are equally excited for the younger runners this year to step into those roles next season.
It was an enormous honor to work with each of our athletes this year.
