2017-18 Wrestling Team

2017-18 Coach's Report:

ALA finished the year strong placing 4th out of 60 teams in the Division 4 State Championships. Brandon G, a junior, became ALA's 3rd State Champion, taking the title at 152. Junior Jake B placed 2nd, capping a season where he only lost to one wrestler. Alex J placed 3rd, losing only to a 2x State Champion. Similarly, Blake W finished his career with 3 section titles and 3 state placers, losing only to two returning state champions in the very tough 120 class. Gavin D completed his sophomore year placing 4th at State. Shawn M, Jon A, and Caleb M finished in 7th place, finishing one win shy of the medal rounds. Ben A and Josa A also won matches and wrestled well. Remarkably, all 10 ALA wrestlers were still in the tournament the 2nd day. Special thanks to all the parents, fans, and wrestlers who traveled to Prescott to support the team at State and throughout the season.

POST SEASON ACCOLADES:

Congratulations to the wrestlers
for taking 1st place at the Gila Valley Invitational. Also, congratulations to Blake W for receiving the Outstanding Wrestler Award!
